Craig Murray: Torture and The "War on Terror"

Craig Murray, an Atlantic Free Press contributor, once privileged career diplomat and ambassador now author of:

Murder in Samarkand – A British Ambassador's Controversial Defiance of Tyranny in the War on Terror. (see the review on Green Left weekly)

Murray tells of his experiences with the Uzbek dictatorship (our allies in the, gulp, "War on Terror") one tributary in the flood of false intelligence about "Al Qaeda" and the fanciful "global terror conspiracy" US and UK leaders are so fond of talking about.

The attached 25min recording of Craig Murray's speech on Torture and The "War on Terror" was recorded by the London Sound Posse at the Reclaim our Rights Conference, held on 6th December 2006 in London which was organised by CAMPACC (Campaign Against Criminalising Communities).

Send The Shrub Your Mail!

My dander is up like it hasn’t been for… a week… maybe less! This is the last straw… until the next one. I am outraged. George W. Bush has pulled another fast one on Congress and the American public.

You ever notice the insatiable appetite of the hard-core criminal. He is driven to commit new and more bizarre crimes. For the garden-variety crook, perpetrating new crimes is a necessary and heady stimulus… like good Tequila Boilermaker. Si! Tiempo para una mas tequila y cerveza!

Bush and the F – Word Part Two

The Bush administration’s overall record in 2006 was one of public manipulation for the benefit of crony capitalism and imperial overreach. Can the 110th Congress stop them in 2007?

The pessimistic view is that Bush has nothing left to lose anyway, so will crash and burn the country in the next two years, much as he did many business ventures in the past.

He’ll let the economy melt and watch as Americans struggle to stay afloat. He’ll attack Iran, increase troop presence in the Middle East and bring back the draft. He’ll roll back more civil rights in the name of national security, women’s rights in the name of God. He’ll pin all of the above on the Democrats come 2008.

Pessimistic? Yes.

Bush and the F – Word Part one

by Heather Wokusch

It's not overstating the case to say that 2007 could be make or break for US democracy.

The Bush administration's cutbacks and rollbacks in 2006 were so frequent and so egregious that many Americans stopped paying attention, gave up hope or else failed to see the onslaught as part of a larger pattern.

Which brings up the f-word.

I Smell A Rat!

by Tom Chartier

Can you smell it too? For a moment I thought it was the mangrove swamp.

Time to find out what’s polluting the shades of America. It’s been stinking up the U.S…. and the world… for six years now. How could anybody miss it? It’s reeking to high Heaven. Behold: a monstrous Rodentia Giganticus that chews glass and eats its young.

Folks, what we have here is a massive scam that’s just like all the others our government has been pulling on the taxpayers since… well, let’s just go back as far as 2000 when our Dear Leader, Bush 43 (George W. Bush), was handed the presidency by Bush 41’s (that would be Bush The First, George H.W.) supreme court.

We have been — and are still being — scammed.

And, as we atone the sins of over-consumption this first day of the Christian new year, Palestinians continue to suffer in atonement for sins they never committed.

Yesterday I reached Canadian journalist and long-time friend of both the Palestinian struggle and creator of the website From Occupied Palestine, Jon Elmer. Jon is back in Gaza, reporting on developments there.

Roulette by Tom Chartier

International wheelings and dealings are like a complex game of poker where the nations playing don’t know how many cards are in the deck. Everybody hides aces up their sleeves.

Everybody bluffs. Double-dealing is rife. Some sit quietly with their poker faces and wait for the best time to call. Others posture and strut. Some players excel and some can’t tell their ace from a hole in the ground.
