Date 2009-03-10

This week: The biggest project you've hardly heard of is underway in Vancouver. Houses have been expropriated, and the bulldozers are moving in, but not everyone is willing to be rolled over by the massive Gateway Project. Carmen Mills is with Gateway Sucks, a coalition of environmental and housing activists determined to turn Gateway around; Sandra Findley is a Saskatchewan activist who refused to be counted by Canadian census contractor, Lockheed Martin. The mega-weapons corporation is mining information on Canadians, all to be made available upon request to America's Homeland Security; publisher and broadcaster, Janine Bandcroft keeps us up to speed with Victoria's unaddressed shelter crisis. Chris Cook hosts Gorilla Radio, airing live every Monday, 5-6pm Pacific Time. In Victoria at 101.9FM, 104.3 cable, and on the internet at: http://cfuv.uvic.ca. He also serves as a contributing editor to the web news site, www.pacificfreepress.com. Check out the GR blog at: http://GorillaRadioBlog.blogspot.com

Gorilla Radio with Chris Cook, Marc Loiselle, Jacques Fresco, Jan. 28, 2002

Date 2009-02-25

Monday, January 28th, 2002 As Canada’s monetary and political independence sink slowly into history; as our leaders sell our sovereignty, erasing our most dearly held institutions; as Canadian soldiers depart for foreign wars, led by foreign masters, we may take a winter’s moment to ponder the legacy of our great acquiescence to corporate rule. Ontario has become a toxic dumping ground, B.C. the new haven for pipelines and offshore oil derricks, the North withering under climate change, and the Atlantic fished out. And, on the great prairie, our oceans of wheat are threatened by a spill more destructive than anything Exxon could muster. On the first half of today’s show, organic farmer and member of the Saskatchewan Organic Directorate, Marc Loiselle on the fight against genetic pollution in Canada’s heartland. And, can we change our culture? No-one can doubt, our present course is disastrous for the environment, human health, and holds no hope of achieving either justice or peace. But what to do? In the second half of the program, inventor, author, futurist, and co-founder of The Venus Project, Jacques Fresco will be here with his vision of an alternative, sustainable, new world civilization…But first, Marc Loiselle fighting genetic pollution.
