Gorilla Radio with Chris Cook, Dianne Dowling, Marian van der Zon, Janine Bandcroft Mon. June 14, 2010

Date 2010-06-15

This week: Stephen Harper, the twisted progeny of Trickle Down governance theory is now determined to follow the lead of his Republican brethren in America and make of this Canada a slave state, replete with corporate prisons, rolling over the rim with marijuana inmates and three strike, mandatory minimum sentence losers. One of the more troubling events evidencing this is the Conservative effort to destroy the prison farm programs, a signally successful model of rehabilitory incarceration. Dianne Dowling is with the Save Our Prison Farms coalition, and she's a member of the National Farmers Union. Dianne Dowling in the first half. And; "Inspired by a passion for justice, a defiant libertarian ethos, a desire for autonomy, or for purposes of artistic expression." Marian van der Zon is one of three dedicated pirates who put together the anthology of tales from across the spectrum of the country's illicit radio dials, Islands of Resistance: Pirate Radio in Canada. Radio pyrates, snubbing the edicts of broadcasting with Marian van der Zon in the second half. And; Victoria Street Newz publisher and CFUV broadcaster, Janine Bandcroft will join us at the bottom of the hour to preview the newz from our city's streetz you may or may not hear from the corporate stream in the coming weeks. But first, Dianne Dowling and saving the nation's prison farms. Chris Cook hosts Gorilla Radio, airing live every Monday, 5-6pm Pacific Time.
