Kevin Neish is a Victoria-based human rights activist who has travelled to Palestine on numerous occasions to show solidarity for the Palestinian cause, and to protest the deprivations, violence, and criminality foisted on them by the state of Israel. His most recent action in that pursuit culminated on the night of May 31st, 2010 on board the Turkish cruise ship, Mavi Marmara, the scene of a lethal assault by Israeli commandos that resulted in the murder of nine, unarmed rights activists by the military.
Diana Beresford-Kroeger is a scientist, author, lecturer, and defender of the wilds that remain. She is a botanist; medical and agricultural researcher; and self-defined "renegade scientist" in the fields of classical botany, medical biochemistry, organic chemistry, and nuclear chemistry. Her book titles include, 'The Global Forest,' 'A Garden for Life: The Natural Approach to Designing, Planting, and Maintaining a North Temperate Garden,' 'Arboretum America: A Philosophy Of The Forest,' and her latest, 'Arboretum Borealis: A Lifeline of the Planet.'

This past week, Israel went ahead with its declared end to the official ban on settlement building by Jews in the West Bank, guaranteeing, as Sharon's calculated trespass did in 2000, years more of death and enmity on both sides of the Palestine-Israel divide.

The Israeli Defense Forces attack that resulted in the murder of nine of the Mavi Marmara's roughly seven hundred peace activist passengers as they sailed with humanitarian aid for the Gaza Strip has subsequently been deemed by a United Nations investigation into the events of May 31st to have broken many international laws, not least being the execution-style murders of at least four of the nine killed that night.

International peace activist and Mavi Marmara survivor, Ken O'Keefe speaks in Victoria on his organization Aloha Palestine, the Free Gaza flotillas, and the future of direct action to liberate Gaza and Palestine.
This week: Ken O'Keefe is an ecology and human rights defender, environmental entrepreneur, and dedicated direct activist. Ken is a former member of the United States Marine Corps, who renounced his American citizenship in protest of his country's policies.
He was also aboard the Mavi Marmara when it was attacked in the pre-dawn hours of May 31st, 2010. Ken was arrested, along with the roughly seven hundred human rights activists on the Mavi Marmara, charged, incarcerated, and brutalized while in Israeli custody.
