This week: Brad Slade is a long-time labour activist and he's the Regional Organizer for the South Island and the Islands with Fight The HST. That campaign met all stated barriers by deadline, but the tax remains. Brad Slade back to look at the future of the HST in the first half. Kenji Fuse is a member of the board of the Island Bio-diesel Co-op, a struggling collection of dedicated fuel alternativists scheduled to meet with the minister responsible to seek a sensible redress to the Campbell government's regressive environmental policies. Kenji Fuse in the second half separating the gas from the reality of government environmental policy. This week: Ken O'Keefe is an ecology and human rights defender, environmental entrepreneur, and dedicated direct activist. Ken is a former member of the United States Marine Corps, who renounced his American citizenship in protest of his country's policies. He was also aboard the Mavi Marmara when it was attacked in the pre-dawn hours of May 31st, 2010. Ken was arrested, along with the roughly seven hundred human rights activists on the Mavi Marmara, charged, incarcerated, and brutalized while in Israeli custody. Ken O'Keefe in the first half. British Columbia and Ontario awoke Canada Day with the government's hand sunk deeper into their pockets. Yes, the Harmonized Sales Tax, or HST, went into effect July 1st. It's a tax hike for the majority of us, even as government services decline, or are cut entirely. Erik Andersen is retired economist who has remained active in his retirement watching the squander of our money perpetrated by the government of Canada's shadowy tax Czars. And; Victoria Street Newz publisher and CFUV Radio broadcaster, Janine Bandcroft will be here at the bottom of the hour to bring us newz from Victoria's street and beyond.
