This Week: Erik Grafe is an attorney with Earthjustice, a non-profit, public interest law organization that is, quote: "[D]edicated to protecting the magnificent place, natural resources, and wildlife of this Earth, and to defending the right of all people to a healthy environment." Earthjustice evolved from the Sierra Legal Defense Fund, and is the largest environmental law organization in the world. Erik Grafe works out of the Earthjustice Anchorage office, and is especially focused on issues related to the expansion of offshore oil and gas leasing and exploration in the American-claimed Chukchi and Beaufort Seas. Erik Grafe and the looming conservation fight at the top of the world in the first half. And; David Swanson is a long-time peace and social justice activist, journalist, and the author of the books, 'Daybreak: Undoing the Imperial Presidency and Forming a More Perfect Union,' and 'War is a Lie.' This week: Ken O'Keefe is an ecology and human rights defender, environmental entrepreneur, and dedicated direct activist. Ken is a former member of the United States Marine Corps, who renounced his American citizenship in protest of his country's policies. He was also aboard the Mavi Marmara when it was attacked in the pre-dawn hours of May 31st, 2010. Ken was arrested, along with the roughly seven hundred human rights activists on the Mavi Marmara, charged, incarcerated, and brutalized while in Israeli custody. Ken O'Keefe in the first half. British Columbia and Ontario awoke Canada Day with the government's hand sunk deeper into their pockets. Yes, the Harmonized Sales Tax, or HST, went into effect July 1st. It's a tax hike for the majority of us, even as government services decline, or are cut entirely. Erik Andersen is retired economist who has remained active in his retirement watching the squander of our money perpetrated by the government of Canada's shadowy tax Czars.
