Gorilla Radio with Chris Cook – Glenn Greenwald, Steve Anderson, J9 – July 16, 2007

This is the time of the Tyrant. That is, we are living to see capital "Tee" Tyranny, the inevitable, predictable, and absolute corruption of public and personal morays resulting from the taking and exercising of absolute power.
As the old adage warned, so it has come to be again; the world stands helplessly by as the appalling creation of America's fractured and usurped political system runs riot across the planet.

In the long and bitter history of human warfare, the siege plays a particularly savage role, for it is the deliberate punishment through privation of a trapped civilian population. The Siege of Troy is perhaps the most famous siege in western culture, the names of Helen, Paris, Achilles, and Hector still commonly recognized thousands of years after their collective demise. The sacking of Troy ended an intractable war, that had culminated with the ten year siege of the city, cunningly concluded through Greek ingenuity in the form of the famous Trojan Horse. It's a trick remembered and warned against still today, when we say; "Beware Greeks bearing gifts."

Gorilla Radio with Chris Cook Farting and Tap Dancing – Mike Palecek, and J9 – June 25, 2007

Mike Palecek has been on the inside and outside of walls and fences; gentle listener, you may recall mention here of friend Mike's failed attempt to enter Canada for the purpose of promoting his latest book, barred, as a growing multitude are, access to the country from his native America. Fitting, considering the themes explored in his novel, 'The American Dream,' which paint a dystopic near-future portrait of an America suffering terminal post-economic stress disorder, manifest as mad fascism run off the rails. Mike Palecek welcomes you to the Homeland

James Bamford re:CIA "family jewels"

On June 25th, the Central Intelligence Agency will lift the lid on the
agency's own illegal activities from the 1950s, '60s and '70s. A summary of the 693-page report, released last week, tells of assassinations, kidnappings and domestic surveillance.

Author James Bamford has spent nearly three decades investigating the activities of America's spy agencies. He tells Liane Hansen what the revelations say about the CIA, past and present.

Charlie's lived, loved, and written from the heart of the teeming capital city for decades and he'll join us in the first half.

Gorilla Radio with Chris Cook – Dave Lindorff, Jon Elmer, Janine Bandcroft – May 21, 2007

Dave Lindorff is a Philadelphia-based, award-winning journalist and author of 'This Can't Be Happening! Resisting the Disintegration of American Democracy,' with Barbera Oshansky, 'The Case for Impeachment: Legal Arguments for Removing President George W. Bush from Office,' and 'Killing Time: An Investigation into the Death Row Case of Mumia Abu-Jamal,' among others. Dave Lindorff is following the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals hearings in Philadelphia, and he'll join us here in the first segment.

And; the situation in Palestine is dire, and worsening by the moment. Internecine fighting, fomented largely by American weaponry supplied to the opposition Fatah, and enabled by Israeli security control of Gaza's borders, they allowing access of fighters loyal to Fatah. Meanwhile, the Israeli Defense Force Air Force is actively assassinating high-ranking members of the governing Hamas Party. Laxt week, I spoke with intrepid Canadian freelance journalist, Jon Elmer about the situation on the ground in Palestine, and in the second half, exerpts of our discussion last week.

And, Janine Bandcroft will be here to bring us up to speed with what's going on in and around Victoria in the coming week; but first, Dave Lindorff and ending Mumia Abu-Jamal's long struggle with American justice.

GorillaRadio with Chris Cook, – Donna J. Thorne, Jon Elmer – May 14, 2007

Today the land once hailed as the home of liberty has for millions around the world become a source of despotic terror. Within the walls of Fortress North America, the citizens are not the hardy, nor wise patriots that once lived there, but fearful and cowering consumer units, devoid of both conscience or curiosity. But how did such a sad day come to dawn? It's simplicity itself, suggests Patrick Henry, one of those long past patriots.

Henry says; "We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth…Is this the part of wise men, engaged in a great and arduous struggle for liberty? Are we disposed to be of the number of those, who having eyes, see not, and having ears, hear not..? For my part, whatever anguish of spirit it might cost, I am willing to know the whole truth; to know.. it — now."
