Ape Goes to Maude Barlow Nov. 20, 2009

The Greater Victoria Water Watch Coalition, in conjunction with the Canadian Union of Public Employees teamed up with the Council of Canadians to bring its National Chairperson, Maude Barlow to the city for a talk on the fate of Victoria’s water and sewage systems. In a broad ranging address, Barlow touches on water issues here and around the world.

Malalai Joya is the first woman elected to the Afghani parliament, and the first woman to be booted out of that suspect body. She’s survived several attempts on her life, and continues to condemn the farce of democracy in her homeland. She is currently touring Canada with the co-author of her auto-biography, Derrick O’Keefe. Malalai Joya appeared in Victoria, B.C. November 15th, 2009.

She's also a Langford-based pro-activist, freelance journalist, wilderness and environmental educator, and was intimately involved with the recent Torch welcoming reception.

Ape Goes to the HST Rally

Ape Goes to the demo. It was a lightly attended affair (perhaps 150 to 200 people) but the anger is palpable, and this could well lead to bigger things, all bad, for B.C. premier Gordon Campbell. Dozens of anti-HST demonstrations were held across the province today.
